E2 28 Day Challenge Day 6

It would have been easy to throw in the towel yesterday, and say screw it- it’s the Super Bowl, bring it. Bring the meat, bring the cheese, bring the cookies, bring the gastrointestinal cramping. But I didn’t.

I wouldn’t exactly say I stuck to the diet, taking a nibble of homemade brisket a friend brought over, and count them one, two, three, four, five tiny blissful bites of French Onion dip (no restraint around this creamy, oniony dip of the gods).

Yesterday’s tiny victory is simply healthier choices than what could have been had I Marshawn Lynch’d it into feast mode. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it is so easy to set aside your diet, food philosophy, eating plan, what ever you what to call it, and cave into your desires- there is literally an excuse every weekend. We’ve all been there. We all know it. And it never feels good.

So yeah- small victory, but going to bed without feeling guilty about what I ate, or worse, feeling sick from what I ate, is a huge win.

FOOD DIARY DAY 6

Dal and Rice Breakfast

Breakfast: Coconut dal with basmati rice.

Snack: Pre yoga banana

More Snacks: Setting up for the party I could not resist taking one bite of French onion dip on a bbq chip, one bite became, two, then three, then four, then five, then FINALLY- I decided to eat some real lunch

Lunch: Basmati rice topped with a roasted sweet potato and steamed kale.

Sweet Potato with Kale and Rice

More Snacking: The chocolate coconut ganache needed sampling as I poured it into a date/nut crust topped with sliced bananas. This vegan chocolate ice box pie (not pictured, sorry) recipe called for coconut butter, not on the E2 plan, but not exactly a refined oil either- made from the meat of coconut. Like peanut butter, the majority calories, are calories from fat, meaning 1 TBSP max. A cup mixed with equal amounts maple syrup and cocoa powder, then split 12 ways seemed reasonable- and a better choice than grocery store brownies.

Dinner/Ok,ReallyJustMoreSnacking: Gluten free breaded and baked cauliflower “wings”. OMG- guys, I’m not really a wing eater, and I ate almost a whole head of cauliflower florets coated in spicy wing sauce, and while finger-licking delicious, it literally wrecked havoc on my digestive system. Holy holy. Next time, maybe just 6, or 12, not 48.

Super Bowl Super Snacks

More snacking: tons of fresh veggies, cucumber and carrot slices, bell pepper strips, celery sticks.

Drinking: 1 20oz gluten free dry cider.
