Well, this post is  short, and late as I totally procrastinated writing this morning, instead choosing my hour of silence, when everyone else is still asleep, to peruse JCrew and Anthro, looking for key SXSW pieces- I know this trip is, like, 5 weeks away, but this is who I am. When not living in the moment, I sometimes live WEEKS ahead. BTW. What do you think of these pants, in brown?
No deep thoughts from eating E2 yesterday, pretty routine, save for some crafty brewer’s yeast seasoned popcorn smuggling into a Blazer Game. The trick is to stuff the bag under your coat, but up around your sternum, then drape your scarf over it all, and no questions asked! This of course only works if the popcorn is in a plastic bag.
FOOD DIARY DAY 5
Breakfast: Lentils with kale (surprise!!) with a bit of chopped up bechu kimchi. I find that when eating kimchi as a side dish, I like to keep the pieces long, and crunch worthy, like a pickle, but when mixing kimchi into a bowl of goodness, I like to chop it up finely, mostly for ease of getting onto my fork.
Morning Snack: A large americano from Starbucks before Ella’s ballet class, and we both snacked on Mary’s Gone Crackers gluten free onion flavored crackers on the way home.
Lunch: Feeling particularly proud of myself for pulling off a gorgeous salad when it took almost everything not to reduce myself to a peanut butter sandwich. I’m taken aback how often I find myself making bad decisions because I’m over hungry. Instead of giving in, I cleaned out the vegetable drawers, roasting carrots, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes- all having seen better days, and serving it with hemp seeds and mesclun mix. #patontheback
Pre Dinner Snack: Sliced apple, a little less than a tablespoon of pistachio butter and three wedges Kite Hill cheese.
Dinner: Coconut dal with basmati rice- this recipe is a bit of an E2 cheater with a can of coconut milk and a bit of oil for popping cumin, mustard seed and curry leaves. I came across the recipe from Food52 via twitter over the holidays and have routinely made this hearty soup weekly since. It makes for a warming breakfast on the dreariest of Portland winter mornings.
Snack: I’m a sucker for popcorn, always have been, and I’m particularly fond of popcorn topped with tamari and brewers yeast. Recently I’ve been adding a bit of garlic powder into the mix. Tonight I used a tablespoon of earth balance soy margarine and it didn’t make much of a difference, except adding on extra calories.
Drinks: Just one glass of Underwood Pinot at Windows ore game. On, and one $4 bottle of water at the game. $4! I could rant for days on this one. $4!!
Post Game Snack: Divine Pie’s PassionFruit Cheesecake- vegan and raw and almost 100% calories, so something to only take a bite or two of.
