Nom Nom Nom: Vegan Peanut Butter Crispy Bar

Do you know about Petunia’s Pies & Pastries? No? Well, let me introduce you.

Rice krispy bars were always a treat when I was a kid. I loved them because they were simple and straight forward. No messing around with caramel, fruit, chocolate, nuts, nope, just pure sugar with a bit of crunch and an undercurrent of butter. Man, I loved them. As an adult, I’m constantly tempted to purchase one when I’m in Starbucks, but they seem a little, how do I say, unrefined, to this foodie. I feel like a child when I indulge in this lunchbox snack. Enter Petunia’s Peanut Butter Crispy Bars. Sophisticated, Gluten Free, vegan, and everything I need sinful treat to be: sweet, gooey, and crunchy. $3.29 at Whole Foods Market or visit Lisa at area Farmer’s Markets. Please do not blame me for any pounds gained.

  1. Oh yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!!! I could never have rice crispy treats growing up, but I love them like I love salt caramel, and now you are telling me there is a gooey, even-more-indulgent, vegan version? And I can walk to Whole Foods from my house, AND I’m pregnant. My next five pounds gained will be thanks to your blog!

Our mutual friend Wendy pointed me over to Pease Porridge and I love your posts. I’m a foodie and mom just transplanted back to OR from the Bronx. With my head just above water, I’ve started to post again and search for cool PDX stuff. Love all the foodie fodder here. Maybe we can trade posts one day! Until then, thanks for the inspiration and great food suggestions!
